A grocery purchase on your credit card is spending. Paying that credit card from your chequing account is moving money you already spent—it shouldn’t count as another grocery purchase.
Transfers between your accounts
Use Transfers or CC Payments under the Excluded group in the transaction’s category picker. Vylo has rules to recognize common money movements, but you can correct one that was mistaken for an expense.
A transfer to another person may still be spending. Paying a babysitter by e-transfer belongs in your childcare category, for example.
Refunds and reimbursements
Check the original purchase and the money coming back. Use Refunds under Excluded for a returned purchase. Don’t count it as salary.
Incoming refunds and reimbursements don’t automatically subtract from the original category’s budget spending. If you want a fully reimbursed work expense outside the household budget, you can put both the purchase and repayment in an excluded category.
